Weather targeting on a site

As we know, we can use geotargeting to detect where a customer is.  With this information we can get information about their local leather and serve them products appropriately.

Sounds easy right...well yes it's easy to do.  But it's the rules behind what's sold and when that become more complicated.  For example, should you say "it's raining, buy a cost" or "it's sunny get a pair of sunglasses".  Or should the messaging be based on when the delivery could be, for example "it's going to be wet next week, buy a jacket".

You could always not mention the weather at all and just show banners based on the weather and hope they feel inspired.  This isn't something that has a hard and fast rule (like the rest of the test we've discussed), but testing this type of content personalisation could make a difference.
